Dear Parent / Guardian,
Thank you for taking the time to help your daughter with her S.E.S.E. project. The blog contains a good deal of information to help your child to complete her project to a high standard and to engage in web based research. It is good for your child to consider the reliability of information that she is accessing on line, and to be selective in her use of sources. A link to a short project based on life in Ireland, which, although good, is not truly reflective, is included to encourage the children to critique the information that they may access during their research. While all the links included on the blog are educational in nature, I would nonetheless encourage you to monitor your daughter while she is online, as many sites contain adverts and links that navigate away from the original address. While it is beneficial for the girls to engage in web based research, there is also great benefit to be had from traditional research and a trip to the library would be a great way to encourage this.
The girls can present their project either in their scrapbook or using ICT. If they are using their scrapbook, two pages are sufficient, although four would be better! Projects can be handwritten or typed, and any illustrations can be drawn or printed. For those who would like to use ICT, I would suggest either Powerpoint, Microsoft Word or Windows Photostory (free to download online). In addition, they can create a Diorama, select a piece of music or write a fictional story. Please remember that if they chose this style of project, they must be able to justify the link with life in China.
Enjoy!!!
